MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - A hard fought 110 minutes between the No. 8 Penn State and No. 22 West Virginia resulted in a 1-1 draw in Morgantown. The women's soccer team completed its three game road trip with a record of 2-0-1.

The Nittany Lions hit the ground running in the first half, tallying a pair of shots in the first three minutes of the match.
Goalkeeper Kat Asman was also tested early, making a save and keeping the score 0-0. The Mountaineers established an offensive presence and continuously pressured the Penn State defense.
The Nittany Lions withstood the early pressure and turned the momentum back on the Mountaineers.
In the 21st minute, Ally Schlegel and Payton Linnehan both had shots turned away by the Mountaineers goalkeeper.
Penn State momentum resulted in a the first goal of the game. A beautiful cross by Kerry Abello sailed into the center of the box. Ally Schlegel leaped and headed the ball into the back of the net to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute.
The Nittany Lions took a 1-0 lead into the half.
It took five minutes into the second half for West Virginia to tie the match at 1-1. In the 50th minute, Alina Stahl drove a shot from outside of the box into the top corner of the goal to tie the match.
The back and forth battle continued with both teams narrowly missing a 2-1 lead.
Frankie Tagliaferri put a shot on net in the 70th minute but the West Virginia goalkeeper made the save to keep the score 1-1.
Neither team could score the game-winning goal in regulation and the Nittany Lions and Mountaineers headed to overtime.
Sam Coffey tallied an early shot in the first overtime. Coffey volleyed a bouncing ball wide of the net as the Nittany Lions continued to try and score the game-winning goal.
In the final seconds of the first overtime, defender Laura Suero made a tremendous slide tackle inside the box to keep the West Virginia striker from getting a shot off before the end of the period.
The Nittany Lions pressed the West Virginia defense in the second overtime. Kerry Abello had her shot saved in the 107th minute.
Penn State and West Virginia finished the game tied a 1-1 after 110 minutes of action.
West Virginia outshot Penn State 21-11 in the contest but only five of the Mountaineers 21 shots were on goal. The Nittany Lions tallied seven shots on goal in the match.
Ally Schlegel scored her third goal of the season and she is now tied for the team lead.
Penn State returns home on Sunday, September 8 for a game against James Madison.
