UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's golf team heads to the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Friday-Sunday, Oct. 11-13. The Nittany Lions will compete in the three-day event at the Blackthorn Club at The Ridges in Jonesborough, Tennessee, for the eighth-straight year. Each round begins at 8:30 a.m. ET and Penn State will start on hole No. 1.
The par-72, 7,147-yard layout produced a career-low score for senior Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) in 2018 as he fired a 6-under 66 in the final round. That score tied for the third-lowest round after the top two competitors had first-round scores of 63.
"The Bank of Tennessee has a long tradition of attracting high-quality fields and this year is no exception," said Penn State men's golf coach Greg Nye.
The Nittany Lion starters for this tournament are seniors Davis and Alec Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.), juniors Lukas Clark (Holland, Pa.) and James McHugh (Rye, N.Y.) and freshman Brady Pevarnik (Latrobe, Pa.). Competing as an individual is freshman Ben Smith (Blain, Pa.)
Seven teams of the 15 teams in the 2019 field have shared previous 11 titles, including Penn State's championship in 2017. The Nittany Lions' 833 (31-under) in 2017 now ranks third on the list of team low scores in the 21-year history of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate after host ETSU took the number-two spot with a 32-under 832 last fall.
Two ranked teams in No. 12 Louisville and No. 16 Tennessee are among the 12 programs returning from last year's event. Two additions for 2019, Mississippi and NC State, join the field with Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Furman, Missouri, UNC Wilmington, VCU, Villanova, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Live scoring for the tournament is available here. Pairings will be available at this link late Thursday.
A recap will be posted on GoPSUsports.com following the action on all three days of competition.
