UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Seven members of the Penn State fencing team concluded a four-day long Olympic Trials event in Kansas City, Missouri.
Action began on Friday with men's epee and saber. In epee, Freshman Jonathan Piskovatskov (Houston, Texas) made his first appearance as a Nittany Lion, finishing 29th out of a 255-participant field. Not far behind, teammate Ryan Griffiths (Fair Lawn, N.J.) finished in 37th. Ethan Mullennix (San Francisco, Calif.) was the lone Penn State fencer to compete in the saber event and placed 26th.
On Saturday, Junior Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J) placed 32nd in men's foil.
The Olympic Trials event finished on Monday afternoon with women's saber. Zara Moss (Cranberry Township, Pa.) was Penn State's top finisher, placing 7th followed by Kelli Wozniak (Westerville, Ohio) who placed 32nd.
