LAST TIME OUT: PROVIDENCE
Penn State played its best road series of the young season at Providence last weekend, winning game one 4-2 and tying the second game 2-2.

Rene Gangarosa stole the show in game one with her first-career two-goal game. A third goal by Brooke Madsen put the Nittany Lions up 3-0 before a late Friar surge cut the lead to just one. Katie Rankin dumped in an empty netter to seal the 4-2 win.

Madsen picked up right where she left off in game one with points on both PSU scores on Saturday. She scored the first goal and assisted on Natalie Heising's go-ahead marker in the first period. A late Providence goal forced overtime and brought the game to a tie.

ALL-TIME VERSUS BU
The Nittany Lions and Terriers have been all square through six head-to-head matchups with both teams winning a pair of games and tying the other two. BU has a slight lead in goal differential in the series at 17-14, but the Nittany Lions had the upper hand in the latest series last December.

In game one Dec. 30, 2018, both teams skated to a 1-1 tie which featured stellar goaltending from both sides. Jenna Brenneman made 23 saves for PSU and BU's Corinne Schroeder stopped 20 shots. Penn State's lone goal came from an Izzy Heminger blast from the blue line.

Brenneman was great again in game two the next day and needed just one goal from the offense to gather the shutout win. Shea Nelson scored 8:57 into the first period and the defense took it from there, keeping BU off the board on all 29 shots produced.

MORE HARDWARE
The Nittany Lions had a few more weekly accolades for their performances last weekend at Providence with Chantal Burke being featured on NCAA Hockey's Top 5 Plays and Mallory Uihlein becoming the first Nittany Lion to win CHA Rookie of the Week this season.

Burke ranked number four on the NCAA's Top 5 Plays of the Week with a spectacular three-save sequence in last Friday's 4-2 win.

Burke has put up great numbers in her last four starts with just four goals allowed and a .955 save percentage with a 3-0-1 record. She has lowered her season GAA to 2.15.

Uihlein picked up an assist in last Saturday's game on the power play and had a noticeable presence all over the ice for the series to pick up CHA Rookie of the Week honors.

Uihlein became the 10th current Nittany Lion to win the weekly honor. She now has two points on two assists this season. She is the first Nittany Lion to win Rookie of the Week since Rene Gangarosa won it Feb. 4, 2019.

Despite not winning an award this week, Rene Gangarosa set a single-game best with two goals in last Friday's 4-2 win. Katie McMillan also tied a single-game best with three assists.
