WTEN Wraps Up Second Day at ITA Regionals

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Penn State Women's Tennis completed the second day of competition at the ITA Regionals in Blacksburg, Va. The tournament will continue to run through Tuesday, Oct. 29.
 
Singles
In the singles Round of 64, junior Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N. S. Wales, Australia) defeated Maryland junior Eva Alexandrova, 7-5, 6-3. Junior Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio) lost her match to Old Dominion's Brooke Pilkington, 6-4, 6-4. Junior Frederikke Svarre was victorious in his contest against George Washington's Katarina Marinkovikj, 6-3, 6-3. 
O'Gorman and Svarre will look to continue their runs on Sunday in the Round of 32, where O'Gorman will face Navy senior Kaylah Hodge while Svarre battles Maryland freshman Ayana Akli.
 
Doubles
In the doubles Round of 32, O'Gorman and Rohrbacher emerged victorious over Richmond's pairing of Owens/Zlateva. Junior Hanna Wikberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and senior Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) dropped a tight matchup against Old Dominion's tandem of Biran/Viktorovich, 8-7 (2).
In the Round of 16, O'Gorman/Rohrbacher were bested by Marshall's duo of Dankanych/Smith, 8-6.
 
The Nittany Lions will continue play in the ITA Regionals tomorrow.
