Antweil Named Women’s Basketball Play-By-Play Announcer

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Following the retirement of long-time Lady Lion announcer Jerry Fisher, Penn State Sports Properties has announced that Justin Antweil will take over play-by-play duties for the 2019-20 Penn State Women's Basketball season. Antweil will be joined by returning color commentator Joe Putnam and the duo will broadcast every Lady Lion game throughout the season on the Penn State Sports Network.

"I'm thrilled to be the voice of the Penn State Women's Basketball program," said Antweil. "Broadcasting is my number one passion, so to perform play-by-play at a premier institution like Penn State University is such an honor. I want to thank Athletic Director Sandy Barbour, Vice President & General Manager of Penn State Sports Properties Doug Nelson, Tom Boman of Learfield IMG College, Head Coach Carolyn Kieger and the entire Penn State administration for granting me this tremendous opportunity. I'm excited to be the soundtrack of Lady Lion Basketball and look forward to immersing myself into the community."

Antweil spent the last five years as a broadcaster at Bucknell. He was the main radio talent for Bison Women's Basketball games, in addition to broadcasting various soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, wrestling, field hockey, baseball and softball games.

Prior to his time at Bucknell, Antweil spent time as a broadcaster with the Somerset Patriots. Antweil graduated from the University of Miami in 2011 with a degree in broadcast journalism.

Every Penn State Women's Basketball game will be broadcast on the Penn State Sports Network, 1390 AM in State College. A full list of radio affiliates across the state of Pennsylvania can be found HERE.

A New Era Begins
Penn State will enter its first season under head coach Carolyn Kieger in 2019-20. Kieger, a 2019 Naismith Women's Coach of the Year Award semifinalist, guided Marquette University to the top of the Big East Conference and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances as the Golden Eagles' head coach.

Kieger, a 2006 Marquette graduate, comes to Happy Valley after five years at the helm of her alma mater, posting a 99-64 overall record. During the past three seasons, Kieger led the Golden Eagles to sparkling 76-26 mark (43-11 in Big East), which included a pair of Big East regular-season championships and a Big East Tournament Championship. Marquette made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in 20 years, advancing to the round of 32 the past two seasons.
