Bard Tied for Sixth at UNCG/Grandover Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Penn State men's golf senior Alec Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) shot a 1-under 71 in the second round of Saturday's action at the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate to move into a tie for sixth place. Bard is even overall at 144 and just four strokes behind the leader.
 
A tough second round saw eight of the 11 teams turn in scores of 300+ and put the Nittany Lions in sixth place with a 27-over 603. Host UNCG leads the event after two rounds with 584 (8-over).
 
Penn State begins the final round Sunday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET.
 
Juniors James McHugh (Rye, N.Y.) and Lou Olsakovsky (Upper St. Clair, Pa.) each shot 74 in the first round and McHugh ended Saturday in a tie for 19th with a 150 (6-over) and Olsakovsky tied for 29th at 152 (8-over).
 
Jimmy Meyers (Wexford, Pa.), competing as an individual for the second time in his freshman campaign, finished his two rounds in a tie for 39th at 154 (10-over).
 
Tied for 54th, senior Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) struggled in his second round Saturday after a 3-over in round one for a 158 (14-over). Three birdies on his final nine helped junior Lukas Clark (Holland, Pa.), but he tied for 62nd with a 159 (+15) after the first day. 
 
Tony Jiang of Rutgers took over the lead from Chattanooga's Leon Bader with a 3-under 69 in Saturday's second round and has a 4-under 140 after two rounds.
