UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Women's Tennis team is set to compete in their fourth tournament in three weeks as the Nittany Lions head to Evanston, Ill. for the Northwestern Wildcat Invitational. The tournament will run from Friday, Oct. 4 to Sunday, Oct. 6 at Northwestern's Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
Penn State will send senior Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.), junior Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio), senior Shannon Hanley (Kensington, Md.), junior Hanna Wikberg (Stockholm, Sweden), and sophomore Olivia Ryan (Victoria, Australia) to battle in the tourney.
The Nittany Lions are coming off of a weekend trip to Williamsburg, Va. where they competed in the Hall of Fame Classic. Ryan and Wikberg led the singles charge with two wins apiece while the duos of Frederikke Svarre/Olivia Ryan and Shannon Hanley/Hanna Wikberg each took home a doubles win.
Following the tournament, the Nittany Lions will look forward to a two-weekend break from tournament play before heading to Blacksburg, Va. for the ITA Regionals.
