B1G Road Win for Nittany Lions Over Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Penn State women's soccer team secured a Big Ten road win over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday afternoon. The Nittany Lions defeated the Buckeyes 3-2 in Columbus.

The Nittany Lions wasted no time in taking the lead over the Buckeyes in just the fourth minute of action. A great pass from Kerry Abello set up Ally Schlegel. Schlegel did not waste the opportunity and found the back of the net to give Penn State a 1-0 lead.

Payton Linnehan put a shot on goal in the sixth minute of action as the Nittany Lions continued to control the match in the early minutes.

Penn State continued its aggressive play throughout the entire first half and controlled the majority of the possession in the first 45 minutes of play. The Nittany Lions limited the Buckeyes to just two shots in the first half. Both shots were on goal, but Amanda Dennis easily made both saves.

In the 38th minute the Nittany Lions carried the ball into the Buckeyes' penalty box. The Nittany Lion put four shots on goal with three rebounds. Maddie Myers scored on the final rebound for the first goal of her Nittany Lion career to give the Nittany Lions a 2-0 lead.

The Nittany Lions went into the half leading the Buckeyes 2-0.

Penn State picked up where it left off in the first half as the Nittany Lions added to their lead in the 61st minute. Jordan Canniff netted her first goal as a Nittany Lion and gave Penn State a 3-0 lead.

Ohio State managed to trim the Nittany Lions lead to 3-2 with goals in the 68th minute and 75th minute of action.

The Penn State defense withstood the comeback attempt as the Nittany Lions picked up their third Big Ten victory of the season. Amanda Dennis made six saves to help secure Penn State's 3-2 victory.

Penn State continues its Big Ten road trip with two more games against Indiana on October 10 and Purdue on October 13.
