WTEN Wraps Up Day Two at Northwestern Wildcat Invite

EVANSTON, Ill. –The Penn State Women's Tennis team ended day two of the Northwestern Wildcat Invite. The second day consisted of all doubles action as singles play will resume on Sunday. 
 
Doubles
The A draw saw junior Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio) and Olivia Ryan (Victoria, Australia) drop a 6-1 set to Marquette's team of Popovic/Foe. The tandem of Ryan/Rohrbacher later lost to Northwestern's Pozo/Streng, 6-3. Ryan/Rohrbacher rebounded with a 6-4 win over Purdue's Sabe/Dovnik before losing a tight 7-6 set against Rico/Myers of Miami (OH).
 
In the B draw, senior Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) and junior Hanna Wikberg (Stockholm, Sweden) teamed up against the Eastern Illinois duo of Kavtadze/Bukraba-Ulanova in a 6-3 victory. In the second round, Smith/Wikberg emerged victorious in a matchup with UIC's Collic/Arendt, 6-3. Smith and Wikberg were later eliminated by James Madison's Roka/Moulin.
 
On Sunday, Ryan will square off against Kentucky's Ana Tkachenko. Wikberg will face Purdue's Seira Shimuzu. Rohrbacher will match up against Melani Dani of Miami (OH) in her next game.
 
Tomorrow's action will resume with the start of doubles competition, as Ryan/Rohrbacher will face Marquette's duo of Popovic/Foe while Smith/Wikberg square off against the Eastern Illinois tandem of Kavtadze/Bukraba-Ulanova.
