WTEN Ends Day Two of the Kentucky Invite

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Penn State women's tennis team completed the second day of the Kentucky Invite on Saturday. The tournament will continue running through the weekend, ending on Sunday, Nov. 3. 
 
Singles
In singles, the Nittany Lions were matched up against DePaul. Junior Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) dropped a three-set match against DePaul freshman Yuliya Kizelbasheva, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Junior Frederikke Svarre (Copenhagen, Denmark) scrapped out a 6-4, 4-6, 7-4 victory over DePaul junior Alina Kuzmenkova. Sophomore Gracey Hirsch (Cincinnati, Ohio) was defeated by DePaul's Lenka Antonijevic, 6-1, 6-4. Junior Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio) was victorious over DePaul's Madelyn Yergler in a 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 match. Senior Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over DePaul freshman Layo Adelakun. Sophomore Sydney Weinberg (Winchester, Mass.) defeated Virginia Tech's Audrey Butterworth, 6-3, 6-3.
 
Doubles
In doubles, the Nittany Lions were matched up with the Utah Utes. The O'Gorman/Hirsch duo was defeated by Utah's Madeline Lamoreaux/Anya Lamoreaux, 8-3. Penn State's pairing of Rohrbacher/Svarre won over Utah's tandem of Dush/Hung, 8-1. Smith/Weinberg pulled out an 8-3 victory over the Utes' teaming of Hersh/McKay.
 
The tournament will continue tomorrow as the Nittany Lions open up with a doubles matchup against DePaul. Following doubles competition, Penn State will be matched up with Miami (OH) in singles.
