COTTBUS, Germany – Penn State senior Stephen Nedoroscik took third out of 45 competitors on pommel horse Thursday in the qualifying round of the World Cup in Cottbus, Germany. With a top-eight finish, he advanced to the finals of the event, which will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. (ET).
Nedoroscik posted a score of 14.933, finishing behind China's Hao Weng (15.100) and Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev (15.066). There was a big drop-off from the top three as the fourth-place finisher recorded a score of 14.566.

The event, which is being held at the Lausitz Arena, is part of the International Gymnastics Federation's individual apparatus World Cup Series. The gymnast with the highest point total of their best three World Cup meets on each event will earn a berth to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
