Four Nittany Lions Earn All-Region Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Four members of the Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team were honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as All-Region selections.  Two Nittany Lions were named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Mideast Region First Team and two more were named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Mideast Region Second Team.
 
Senior Madison Morano (Hammonton, N.J.) and sophomore Anna Simon (Hanau, Germany) were Penn State's first team selections.
 
Morano started all 20 games for Penn State this season and ended the campaign with four points off a goal and two assists. Morano capped off a super Lion career with 36 points from seven goals and 22 assists.  Morano has been a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.  She was named to the 2019 All-Big Ten Tournament Team.
 
Simon led Penn State ins coring this season with 19 points off eight goals and three assists. In two years at Penn State, Simon has 47 points off 21 goals and five assists.  Simon was an NFHCA National Academic Squad honoree as a true freshman last year with this year's announcement yet to come.
 
Junior Abby Myers (Hartland, Wis.) and true freshman Paityn Wirth were Penn State's second team selections.
 
Myers finished her junior campaign with 10 points off three goals and four assists.  She was named to the 2019 All-Big Ten Tournament Team as well.  Myers has 29 points off 12 goals and five assists through three seasons at Penn State. She has been a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree as well.
 
Wirth finished up her first campaign as a Penn Stater with 15 points off five goals and a team-best five assists.  Wirth had 44 shots this year  and had two game winning goals for Penn State.
 
Penn State has had two or more NFHCA Mideast First Team selections in every season since the award's inception in 1991.
