ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior Sam Sternschein (Syosset, N.Y.) continued his fantastic start to conference play last weekend against No. 11 Ohio State earning Big Ten Third Star of the Week accolades as announced by the league office earlier Tuesday morning.

This marks the first career weekly honor for Sternschein as he registered a career-high three points with a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and one assist during a 5-4 victory last Friday night. The junior joins senior classmates Nate Sucese (Fairport, N.Y.) and Peyton Jones (Langhorne, Pa.) along with juniors Evan Barratt (Bistol, Pa.) and Cole Hults (Stoughton, Wis.) who have each garnered weekly accolades already this season.

The junior collected his second multi-goal game of the season on Friday pushing his goal-streak to a career-best four games in the process. Sternschein is currently tied for the Big Ten lead with nine goals this season to rank tied for sixth nationally while his eight goals in Big Ten games are three more than any other player in the conference.
