LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Penn State women's tennis team wrapped up the Kentucky Invite on Sunday.
Singles
In singles, the Nittany Lions were matched up against Miami (OH). Junior Frederikke Svarre (Copenhagen, Denmark) lost a 3-set match against Miami sophomore Brindtha Ramasamy. Junior Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) was defeated by Miami sophomore Laura Rico, 7-6, 7-5. Junior Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio) was victorious against Miami junior Mackenzie Myers, 6-0, 6-4. Sophomore Gracey Hirsch (Cincinnati, Ohio) closed out a 6-3, 6-4 win against Miami junior Janelle Ghanem. Senior Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) defeated junior Lena Babunski in a 6-2, 6-0 match. Sophomore Sydney Weinberg (Winchester, Mass.) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Virginia Tech's Lily Hackbirth.
Doubles
In doubles, Penn State was matched up with DePaul. The Nittany Lions' tandem of Svarre/Rohrbacher squeaked out an 8-7 victory over DePaul's duo of Antonijevic/Kizelbasheva. Penn State's Hirsch/Weinberg won against DePaul's Yergler/Adelakun in an 8-4 match. The Nittany Lions' teaming of O'Gorman/Smith were narrowly defeated in an 8-7 battle against DePaul's Avgeri/Kuzmenkova.
This tournament marks the end of Penn State's fall schedule. Looking ahead, the Nittany Lions will continue practice in preparation for the spring.
