Penn State Hosts Army in Top-12 Matchup

The Penn State men's rugby team (4-3, 3-1 East) look to get back into winning form while facing their fourth-straight ranked opponent in visiting Army.

The Nittany Lions are coming off of the three-game skid, losing to Kutztown, Davenport, and Navy, all of whom are currently ranked inside the Top-10. Fortunately, the banged-up squad is coming off of a much-needed bye week, and is hoping that the time off allowed the team to regroup mentally and physically.

Conversely, Army (5-3, 2-2 East) is on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating non-conference foe Air Force 39-0. Their last win over a ranked opponents came back on October 19, when they defeated St. Bonaventure 43-19.

The last clash between these two teams came just over a year ago, when the Black Knights cruised to a 31-0 victory over the Nittany Lions. It was the first win over Penn State after being defeated on four straight previous occasions.

"Looking forward to a great match this weekend, the team has trained extremely well this week," said head coach Justin Hundley. "Army are always a tough opponent and we expect tomorrow to be no different. Finishing the season well had been the focus the last two weeks."

Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM at Penn State's West Campus Fields. The team will also be honoring their seniors in a pregame ceremony.
