UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men's gymnastics team will hold an open intrasquad meet for all fans to attend on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 3:45 p.m., at the Wettstone Gymnastics Complex inside the White Building.
Members of the 2020 Nittany Lions will compete against each other on all six events, giving fans a sneak peek of new routines that the preseason CGA No. 7-ranked squad has been working on in practices. The Lions, who will need to replace 11 routines from its graduating class last season, were also preseason No. 7 in the country last year and went on to win the Big Ten title.
Head coach Randy Jepson returns to the helm of the Penn State program for his 29th season, looking for the squad's fifth Big Ten title and nation-leading 13th National Championship.
Penn State returns Stephen Nedoroscik, who won the 2017 and 2018 national championship on the pommel horse to become the 54th individual NCAA National Champion. He added a third All-America honor with a runner-up finish last season.
Also returning this season for the Nittany Lions is senior Sam Zakutney. He is a two-time All-American with top-eight finishes on parallel bars and high bar.
The Nittany Lions open the regular season on January 10-11 at the West Point Open. Their home opener is against Army West Point at Rec Hall on Saturday, Jan. 18.
