Nedoroscik, Zakutney Named Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two members of the Penn State men's gymnastics team were announced Wednesday as Gymnasts to Watch in the Big Ten. Seniors Stephen Nedoroscik and Sam Zakutney each made the list as they look to add to their already illustrious careers in their final season.

Nedoroscik has established himself as one of the best, if not the best, collegiate competitors on pommel horse in the entire nation. He won national titles in the event in each of his first two seasons at Penn State before coming in as the runner-up last season. He will attempt to join Mark Sohn (1988-91) as the only gymnasts in program history to win the event at least three times.

Zakutney is the team's top all-around gymnast as he enters his final season with three All-America honors already secured. He has earned the honor on parallel bars twice and added All-America status on high bar as a sophomore. Zakutney was the Big Ten champion on parallel bars last season and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2017.

Penn State is the defending champion at the Big Ten Championships after winning the fourth title in program history last season.

Fans can get their first look at the 2020 edition of the Penn State Men's Gymnastics team this Thursday as it hosts an intrasquad meet that is open to the public. The event is scheduled for 3:45 p.m., at the Wettstone Gymnastics Complex in the White Building.
