Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2020 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's lacrosse team announced its 2020 schedule on Thursday. The Nittany Lions are set to play 16 regular-season games, including eight in Panzer Stadium. 
 
Penn State, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, will play its second season in Panzer Stadium.  The Nittany Lions earned five home wins, including four in Panzer Stadium.
 
The Nittany Lions will open the Spring with a home scrimmage against Cincinnati on Saturday, February 1. The Bearcats went 12-7 last season and reached the AAC Championship Game.
 
Penn State begins the regular season on Saturday, February 8 at Towson.  The contest is scheduled to start at noon.  The Tigers went 7-10 overall, including 5-1 in CAA play, in 2019.  The Nittany Lions earned a 13-7 win over Towson in their 2019 season opener.
 
The Nittany Lions welcome Lehigh for their home opener, a 3 p.m. matchup on Saturday, February 15.  The Mountain Hawks had an 8-9 mark and reached the Patriot League Quarterfinals in 2019.  PSU knocked off Lehigh, 15-5, in 2019.
 
Penn State hosts Duquesne in a mid-week contest on Wednesday, February 19 at 1 p.m.  The Dukes reached the Atlantic-10 Quarterfinals last season, going 9-8 overall.  Penn State claimed a 17-6 victory over Duquesne in 2019.
 
The Nittany Lions continue their homestand with a battle against Cornell on Sunday, February 23 at 1 p.m.  The Big Red went 8-8 last season and reached the Ivy League Semifinals.  PSU earned a 14-12 win at Cornell last year.
 
The blue and white's four-game home stretch concludes with Loyola (MD) on Saturday, February 29 at 1 p.m.  The Greyhounds reached the NCAA Second Round in 2019 and finished the season ranked No. 10 in the IWLCA Poll.  Loyola (MD) won the Patriot League with a 16-5 record, including a 9-0 mark in conference action.
 
Penn State visits James Madison on Wednesday, March 4 for a 4 p.m. contest.  The Dukes won the CAA last season, going 16-4 overall and 6-0 in conference play, to reach the NCAA First Round.
 
The Nittany Lions travel to Vanderbilt on Sunday, March 8 for a 2 p.m. first draw with their former American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) foe.  Vanderbilt went 10-6 overall last season, reaching the AAC semifinals.
 
Penn State opens Big Ten play with a neutral site contest against Northwestern on Friday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at Vanderbilt.  The Wildcats were 16-5 overall and placed second in the Big Ten with a 5-1 record.  Northwestern won the Big Ten Tournament before advancing to the NCAA Semifinals.
 
The blue and white continues its road stretch at Virginia on Saturday, March 21 at 1 p.m.  The Cavaliers finished the 2019 season ranked No. 7 in the IWLCA Poll and reached the NCAA Quarterfinals.
 
Penn State resumes Big Ten action at Rutgers on the Thursday, March 26 at 5 p.m.  The Scarlet Knights went 5-11 in 2019.  Penn State earned an 18-7 win over Rutgers in 2019.
 
The Nittany Lions welcome Princeton to Panzer Stadium on Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m.  The Tigers won the Ivy League title, going 16-4 overall and 6-1 in conference action.  Princeton reached the NCAA Quarterfinals.
 
Penn State battles Michigan for its Big Ten home opener on Thursday, April 2 with a broadcast on Big Ten Network at a time to be determined.  The Wolverines reached the NCAA Second Round and finished 11th in the IWLCA Poll after going 16-4 overall and 4-2 in Big Ten play.
 
The Nittany Lions visit Columbus on Saturday, April 11 for a 1 p.m. matchup with Ohio State.  The Buckeyes went 9-8 last season, including 1-5 in Big Ten action.  Penn State earned a 21-5 victory in 2019.
 
Penn State travels to Maryland for a contest on Thursday, April 16 on Big Ten Network at a time to be determined.  The Terrapins won a National Title after claiming the Big Ten Regular Season Title.  Maryland went 22-1 overall, including 6-0 in the Big Ten.
 
The Nittany Lions take on Albany in a road matchup on Tuesday, April 21.  The Great Danes reached the America East Championships Game while compiling an 11-7 record. Penn State defeated Albany, 11-9, last season.
 
The regular season wraps up with a Big Ten matchup against Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m. The Blue Jays went 10-8 overall and reached the NCAA First Round in 2019.  Penn State will celebrate its Senior Day.
 
The Big Ten Tournament will be played on May 1 and 3 in Columbus, hosted by Ohio State.
 
Dates and times of all Big Ten conference games are subject to change.
 
The Nittany Lions won eight games in 2019, including victories over No. 11 Towson and No. 21 Johns Hopkins. Penn State is set to return 25 members for the 2020 season, including 2019 All-Big Ten selection Maria Auth and two-time All-American Madison Carter.
