UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – In an ultimate show of respect, the Penn State men's ice hockey team will honor the university's tradition of excellence when they don the Hockey Valley White Rush uniform against the University of Notre Dame on February 1, 2020.
"The White Rush uniform is something we have talked about doing for a while as a tribute to the tradition of excellence at Penn State and our great football program," commented Head Coach Guy Gadowsky. "They look really cool too."
The uniform is simple and bold, closely resembling the road uniform worn by the Penn State football team. To match a scheduled arena wide whiteout, the Nittany Lions themselves will be decked out from head-to-toe in an all-white uniform for the first time in program history.
Matching the all-white helmets with the iconic solid blue stripe down the middle, PSU will sport an all-white sweater with block numbering on the front and back and subtle blue and gray stripes on the arms. The lionhead logo can be seen just below the collar with 'WE ARE' printed on the inside back of the neck in correspondence with Penn State football jerseys.
The all-white pants feature a solid blue stripe down each side, reflecting the pants worn by the football team in its 'Generations of Greatness' uniform, with the lionhead logo on the bottom of the right leg. The socks and gloves complete the all-white look with the socks mirroring the striping on the sleeves and the gloves also sporting an embroidered 'WE ARE' on the cuff.
Following the event each jersey will be up for auction on GoPSUsports.com with the proceeds benefiting a pair of charities, Hockey Coaches Care and THON. Leading up to the event, the Penn State Bookstore will also have a replica shirsey available for purchase.
