Abello Named CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America

AUSTIN, Texas - Junior Kerry Abello has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America first team announced Thursday, December 5. Abello collects the second Academic All-America award of her career as she was named to the 2018 Academic All-America second team.

Abello boasts a 4.00 GPA as a double major in science and Spanish. She is one of just seven NCAA Division I women's soccer student-athletes that earned Academic All-America recognition in each of the last two years.

Abello finished the season third on the team with eight goals and added three assists. Abello brought home her second All-Region honor of her Penn State career earlier this week as she was named to the All-North Region second team. Abello was also named a first team All-Big Ten selection earlier this year.

In 2018, Abello was named CoSIDA Academic All-America second team, All-North Region third team and the All-Big Ten third team.

Abello has also been named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in her career.

In program history, 10 Nittany Lions have received CoSIDA Academic All-America plaudits on 17 occasions.
