2019 REWIND
Four Nittany Lions earned first team All-America status in 2019. Danae Rivers made history by claiming the first indoor track & field individual national championship for the women's track and field program. Rivers, now a four-time indoor track & field All-American, came from behind on the final straightaway to secure her national title in the women's 800-meter run. Rivers was also named Mid-Atlantic Track Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive season and won her third straight Big Ten championship in the 800m.

Along with Rivers, David Lucas earned his second All-American award after finishing eighth in the men's weight throw at 2019 championships. Lucas won the weight throw national championship in 2018, setting a school record 24.02m in the weight throw.

Maddie Holmberg and Domenic Perretta also return after appearances at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Holmberg placed ninth in the pentathlon and Perretta finished ninth in the men's 800-meter run. Perretta also claimed a Big Ten title in the 800m race. It was the Nittany Lions fourth consecutive 800m Big Ten title on the men's side. Holmberg has appeared at the last two NCAA Indoor Track & Field championships in the pentathlon. She placed seventh in 2018.

In 2019, the Penn State women's indoor track and field program finished 11th in the country, the second-highest finish out of Big Ten institutions.

Since 2010, 68 Nittany Lions have earned first team All-America status in indoor track and field. Penn State has won 42 individual Big Ten championships and three team titles over the last ten years.
