Men’s Swimming and Diving Concludes Big Al Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – Three Nittany Lions placed in the top-two during day three of the Big Al Invitational. Throughout the three-day meet, swimmer Michael Daly and diver Jonah Cey led Penn State men's swimming and diving with two first place finishes each while Daniel Raisanen secured a second-place finish on Sunday night.
 
Concluding the three-day invitational, the Nittany Lions finished in fourth with 644 points. Princeton won the invitational with a final score of 887.5.

Top Swims
Earning his second first-place finish of the meet, Michael Daly won the 200 backstroke with an NCAA B-cut qualifying time of 1:43.57. On Friday, Daly placed first in the 500 freestyle with a career-best time of 4:20.10.
 
Teddy Perelli placed fourth in the 200 back with a time of 1:48.11. Fellow sophomore, William Lulek swam a personal best time in the same event with a time of 1:48.36.
 
Earning another top-two finish for the Nittany Lions, freshman, Daniel Raisanen placed second in the 200 breast and swam a NCAA B-cut and career-best time of 1:58.21. Freshman Erik Huuki swam a career-best time of 1:49.19 in the 200 back while Juliusz Gosieniecki also swam a personal best time of 44.49 in the 100 free.
 
Nittany Lion Relays
To close out the invitational, the team of Matthew DiNunzio, William Roberson, Michael Daly, and Juliusz Gosieniecki touched third in the 400 free relay with a final time of 2:56.25

Top Dives
Jonah Cey added another win for the Nittany Lions with a first-place score of 339.35 in the platform dive. This is Cey's second win of the invitational, as he won the 3-meter dive on Saturday (353.75).
 
Bryce Hoch earned another top-three finish and set a new personal record in the platform dive with a third-place score of 270.15.

The men's swimming & diving team will head to Buffalo, N.Y. for the three-day Buffalo Invitational from Jan. 10 – Jan 12.
