Women’s Lacrosse Selected For Two ESPNU Broadcasts

Opens in a new window ESPN Lacrosse Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 12 Penn State Women's Lacrosse team was selected for two broadcasts on ESPNU as ESPN released its lacrosse television schedule on Tuesday.  The Nittany Lions' home matchup against No. 2 Maryland at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 will kickoff ESPN's women's lacrosse coverage.  Penn State's contest at No. 23 Johns Hopkins will also be featured on ESPNU on Friday, April 19 at 5 p.m.

Both matchups will feature two 2018 NCAA Tournament teams.  Maryland was the Big Ten regular season and tournament champion and reached the NCAA Semifinals, going 20-2 overall and 6-0 in Big Ten play.  Johns Hopkins went 10-9 overall, reaching the NCAA First Round and finishing 21st in the IWLCA Poll.

The Nittany Lions are ranked No. 12 in the IWLCA Preseason Poll and No. 10 in the Inside Lacrosse Poll.

Penn State, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, begins the 2019 season seeking its eighth straight NCAA Tournament appearance after going 10-10 last year and reaching the NCAA First Round.  The blue and white earned wins over No. 17 Cornell, No. 22 Johns Hopkins, No. 6 Virginia and No. 7 Northwestern.

Seniors Kayla Brisolari and Madison Carter are both Preseason All-America selections by Inside Lacrosse.  Junior Maria Auth joined Brisolari and Carter as Big Ten Players To Watch, recognized by the conference last week.

Penn State opens the regular season on Saturday against No. 11 Towson, the first of nine matchups against teams ranked in the IWLCA Poll.  The Towson matchup begins at 2 p.m. at Panzer Stadium.

Single-game tickets will be sold on the day of the game. Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for youth (ages 12 and under).  Students will be able to get in free by showing their Penn State ID.
