ON A NATIONAL STAGE
Both Nittany Lions track and field teams are ranked in the top-25 in the preseason Track and Field National Rating Index released by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The women's program checks in at No. 14 and the men's program enters the rankings at No. 25.
TOP RETURNERS
The Nittany Lions return numerous All-America performers to the 2020 indoor roster. Senior Danae Rivers is fresh off the first women's indoor individual national championship in program history. Rivers won the 800m title at last year's NCAA Indoor Championships. Along with Rivers, Maddie Holmberg earned a ninth-place finish in the pentathlon at the Indoor Championships in 2019. Holmberg turned in an All-America performance in 2018 in the pentathlon, finishing seventh.
Senior David Lucas returns after his second All-America finish in the weight throw. Lucas placed eighth in 2019 after winning the NCAA National Championship in the event in 2018. Lucas holds the school record in the weight throw of 24.02m.

The Nittany Lions will host four meets at the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. Following the Nittany Lion Challenge, Penn State hosts the National Open (Jan. 31-Feb. 1), Sykes & Sabock Challenge (Feb. 8) and the Penn State Tune-Up (Feb. 21).
