Bryce Hoch Impressed on 3-Meter at Navy Diving Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Christina Crowell and Bryce Hoch led the Penn State divers on the first day of competition at the Navy Diving Invitational, with Crowell winning the women's 1-meter dive Friday afternoon in Lejeune Hall.

Crowell narrowly reached the finals after placing eighth in the prelims, but rebounded to post the winning score of 248.60. Teammate Sierra Shurts finished fourth with a score of 237.35, while Wei Wei also reached the finals with a prelim score of 241.00.

Bryce Hoch led the Penn State men with a third-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a score of 290.10, and Jonah Cey (273.65) and Kevin Sullivan (271.80) followed him in fifth and sixth, respectively.

In addition to Penn State and host Navy, divers from George Washington, Liberty and Marist are competing in the event, with the top eight from the preliminary round advancing to the finals. The meet will continue Saturday with the men on the 1-meter springboard and the women on the 3-meter, and it concludes Sunday with the platform for both the men and the women.

Penn State's men's swimmers will compete at Bloomington tonight (Friday) at 6:30 p.m., while the Penn State women's swimmers are off this weekend.
