NEW YORK, N.Y. - Senior captain Maddie Holmberg turned in a season-best performance of 4,171 points in the pentathlon event on the first day of the Dr. Sander Invitational. Holmberg won three of the five events to win the pentathlon.
Holmberg opened the day by running 8.64 in the 60m hurdles, earning 987 points. The second event of the pentathlon saw Holmberg jump 5-3.25 (1.61m) in the high jump. Holmberg's second win of the event came in the shot put event. Her second throw traveled 43-3.25 (13.19m) to win the shot put.
The senior's success continued in the long jump event as she claimed her third win of the day by jumping 19-10.25 (6.05m). In the final event of the pentathlon, Holmberg ran 2:19.37 in the 800m to claim the pentathlon crown.
