UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Redshirt senior Grant Ament is the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week to open the season after totaling eight points on three goals and five assists in a 19-10 win over No. 20 Villanova on Saturday.
With his third point in the game against Villanova – which came on his second goal of the contest – Ament passed Gary Martin (1981-84) to become the program leader. He finished the game with 258 career points and needs just nine more to break the Big Ten record.
Ament, who also earned the award after tallying 10 points in a win over Lafayette last week, leads the nation in assists (11), points (18) and points/game (18.0). He has won six Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors during his career.
Penn State (2-0) hosts Saint Joseph's on Saturday at noon. The Hawks opened the season with a 15-8 win at St. Bonaventure.
