Sabia Picked by Waterdogs in PLL Expansion Draft

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Former Penn State men's lacrosse standout Chris Sabia has a new team in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). The defenseman was selected by the Waterdogs with the 15th pick in the league's Expansion Draft on Wednesday.

Sabia played nine games for the Chrome last season, totaling 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers. He played in the inaugural season of the PLL after being drafted by the Chrome with the fourth pick of the second round in 2019.

Sabia was a two-time USILA All-America honorable mention and a two-time All-Big Ten second team selection during his time at Penn State. He played a key role in helping the Nittany Lions  win the first Big Ten regular season and Big Ten Tournament titles in program history.

The Waterdogs are the seventh team in the PLL, joining the Archers, Atlas, Chaos, Chrome, Redwoods and Whipsnakes. The league will hold its Entry Draft on March 16, and will hold its College Draft on April 21.

The PLL season begins on May 29-30 in Boston. Other scheduled dates so far include Atlanta on June 6-7, Long Island on June 12-13, Baltimore on June 20-21, Dallas on July 4-5 and Minneapolis on July 11-12.
