UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State All-Americans Grant Ament and Mac O'Keefe were named to the Tewaaraton Watch List on Thursday. The Tewaaraton Award is given annually to the most outstanding college lacrosse player.
Ament was a finalist for the award last season after setting an NCAA, Big Ten and program record with 96 assists. He added 30 goals to give him a Big Ten single-season record 126 points. Ament has already picked up right where he left off, tallying 18 points on seven goals and 11 assists in wins over Lafayette and Villanova this season. He leads the nation in points and assists.
O'Keefe was on the 2019 Tewaaraton Watch List thanks to an outstanding offensive season last year. He holds the top two goal-scoring seasons in program history with 78 last season and 51 as a freshman. His 78 goals were also a Big Ten record, while his 174 career goals are a program record and nearing a conference record. O'Keefe is off to a fast start this year with 14 points on 10 goals and four assists. His 10 goals lead the nation.
Ament and O'Keefe led Penn State to Big Ten regular season and Tournament titles last season. They are leading the charge as the Nittany Lions are ranked first in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and second in the USILA Coaches Poll this season.
Penn State is at Panzer Stadium to host Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The non-conference matchup is scheduled for noon.
