Nedoroscik Posts Highest Score in Qualifying Round of Melbourne World Cup

MELBOURNE, Australia – Penn State senior Stephen Nedoroscik finished first on pommel horse in the qualifying round of the Melbourne World Cup in Australia on Thursday. Competing to earn points to qualifying for the 2020 Olympics, Nedoroscik scored a 14.6 to qualify for the finals of the event.

Nedoroscik will compete in the finals on Saturday at 2 a.m. (ET). He will participate in two more World Cup events later this season.

"He used a conservative routine with a 16.20 start value as compared to his normal 16.60 or 16.80 to assure a stable and solid performance to make the final," Penn State head coach Randy Jepson said.

This is the second-straight World Cup event that Nedoroscik qualified for the finals. He finished third in the qualifying round at the Cottbus World Cup in Germany in November.

Ethan Dick, who will join the Lions as a freshman next season, qualified for the finals with a fifth-place finish on floor while competing for New Zealand.
