ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The No. 20 Penn State men's basketball team tied for fifth in the final Big Ten Conference standings and earned the No. 6 seed for the 23rd Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament presented by SoFi. The 2020 Big Ten Tournament will be held March 11-15 in Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and the Nittany Lions play on Thursday, March 12 night, the second game of the night session. Penn State will face the winner of Wednesday's game between No. 11 seed Indiana and No. 14 seed Nebraska.
Nittany Lion basketball coach Patrick Chambers has guided the program to its third-straight Big Ten Tournament bye in program history and fourth overall. The No. 6 seed for Penn State ties its highest-ever seed (2009, 2011) and highest in the Chambers era. Penn State is 14-22 in the Big Ten Tournament since the event began in 1998 with five tournament wins coming under Chambers, tied for the most in Nittany Lion basketball history.
The Big Ten Network will carry the broadcast with the radio broadcast available on the Penn State Sports Network and online at GoPSUSports.com. BTN will broadcast the first 10 games of the tournament and those games will be available on the Fox Sports mobile app with Saturday's semifinals and Sunday's final on CBS.
Penn State and Indiana have split their four meetings in the Big Ten Tournament, but have not played since 2012, a 75-58 win for the Hoosiers. In two games in 2019-20, the two teams each won their respective home contests. The Nittany Lions hold a 2-0 advantage over Nebraska in two Big Ten Tournament games, the most recent, a 76-67 win in overtime in 2017.
The winner faces No. 3 seed Maryland in the late quarterfinal game on Friday, March 14.
