WTEN Knocks Off Emory, 6-3

ATLANTA, Ga. –The Penn State women's tennis team was victorious against Emory in Thursday afternoon's match.
 
The Nittany Lions break even at 4-4 on the season.
 
Doubles
Penn State claimed two wins in the doubles matchup.
 
Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) and Shannon Hanley (Kensington, Md.) came out on top in an 8-4 pro set versus Christina Watson and Stephanie Taylor.
 
Frederikke Svarre (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Olivia Ryan (Victoria, Australia) clawed out an 8-6 win against Jessica Fatemi and Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico.
 
Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) and Gracey Hirsch (Cincinnati, Ohio) were defeated by Katleyn Thomas and Alexa Goetz, 4-8.
 
Singles
O'Gorman fell to Gonzalez-Rico, 5-7, 1-6.
 
Svarre grinded out a three-set victory against Defne Olcay, 6-0, 4-6, 7-6(3).
 
Smith made quick work of Goetz, winning 6-0, 6-2.
 
Hanley cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Watson.
 
Ryan came up short against Emma Cartledge, 6(6)-7, 4-6. 
 
Hirsch claimed victory in a third set tiebreaker against Fatemi, 4-6, 6-1, 14-12.
 
Up Next
The Nittany Lions next matches are on Saturday with a double header against Kennesaw State and North Florida. Both matches will be hosted by Kennesaw State.
