Two Nittany Lions Selected for All-Northeast Region Honors

NORMAN, Okla. – Seniors Alec Bard and Ryan Davis of the Penn State men's golf team were selected for the PING All-Northeast Region honors as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America Thursday. The 157 individuals comprised the 2020 All-Region teams that represent six areas of the country. The Nittany Lions tied for the most individuals from one institution in the region on the 25-member Northeast list and also tied for the most honorees among Big Ten institutions.

Davis becomes the seventh Nittany Lion to earn all-region honors all four years of his career, joining Dirk Ayers (1992-1996), Matt Abbott (1997-2001), Robert Rohanna (2004-2008), Kevin Foley (2006-2010), Cole Miller (2014-18) and Charles Huntzinger (2015-19) as Nittany Lions with that distinction.

From Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, Davis was the top team finisher in five events in Penn State's abbreviated 2019-20 season. He recorded his career-low tournament score of 207 at the Old Town Club Collegiate in fall 2019 and tied it at the Florida Gators Invitational in February 2020. He carded his career-low round 66 in the final round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate for the second-straight year.

Bard fired a career-best 67 in the first round of the Old Town Club Collegiate last fall en route to a career-low 209 for the tournament. The New Hartford, New York, product led Penn State in its final tournament of the fall, the Grandover Collegiate.

Eighty Nittany Lions have been recognized as All-Northeast Region selections since 1992-93.

For the sixth-straight year, Penn State had the highest number of honorees in the region. The Northeast Region, which covers the geographic area from Maine to Washington, D.C., comprises 56 NCAA Division I programs and has the largest number of schools of any region.
