Five Lions Earn USILA Scholar All-America Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Five Penn State players were announced as USILA/Warrior and New Balance Division I Scholar All-Americans over the weekend. Grant Ament, Gerard Arceri, Colby Kneese, Mac O'Keefe and Tommy Wright all earned the award for their athletic and academic accomplishments this past year.

Ament, who graduated this spring with a degree in economics, is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and was a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award this past spring. In his final season with the Lions he totaled 44 points on 13 goals and 31 assists while earning first-team All-America status from Inside Lacrosse.

Ament, the program's first Tewaaraton finalist, left Penn State as the Big Ten and school record holder in career assists (191) and career points (284). He was a three-time All-American, 2019 NCAA and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Big Ten selection. He was drafted No. 1 overall by the Archers in the 2020 Premier Lacrosse League draft.

Arceri, a communication, arts and sciences major, earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in each of the past two seasons. He picks up his first USILA Scholar All-America honor after earning a pair of USILA All-America awards for his play in 2018 and 2019. He holds the Penn State record for career faceoffs won (690) and ranks second in ground balls (435).

Kneese, a management major, is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and was a Senior CLASS Award candidate this past spring. He is a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was voted to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team when the Lions won the title in 2019. He went 5-2 in goal and made 78 saves while earning one Big Ten Specialist of the Week award in 2020.

O'Keefe, a communication, arts and sciences major, will return for his final season at Penn State as one of the top offensive threats in the nation. The three-time All-American ranks seventh in NCAA history and owns the Big Ten and program record with 192 goals. He was the MVP while leading the Lions to the 2019 Big Ten Tournament title.

O'Keefe was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2020. He was a second-team All-America selection by Inside Lacrosse after totaling 36 points on 28 goals and eight assists in seven games.

Wright graduated in the spring with a degree in recreation, park and tourism management and was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree this past spring. He was an honorable-mention All-American in 2019 while helping the Lions win Big Ten regular season and Tournament titles. Wright finished with 95 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers in 47 games during his career at Penn State and was then selected in the third round by the New York Lizards in the 2020 Major League Lacrosse Draft.
