THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. - Rising junior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) finished second among amateur golfers and eighth overall at this week's Michigan PGA Women's Open played at Crystal Mountain/Mountain Ridge Course.
Willis opened the event strong on Monday rattling off four-straight birdies to start the event leading to a front-nine 31 (5-under) and concluded the day 3-under, 69. Following an even-par second round she finished the event with a 2-under, 70, on Wednesday afternoon posting a tournament score of 5-under, 211.
Willis fell one stroke behind fellow amateur Sarah Shipley of the University of Kentucky in eighth place overall as Sarah Burnham ran away with the event on the heels of a 9-under final round finishing 18-under for the tournament, a full 10 shots clear of second place.
