As we prepare for the start of the 2020-21 wrestling season later this winter, let's continue our series of quick Q&As with new Penn State wrestlers. This time, transfer Levko Higgins talks about why he chose Penn State and what he hopes to bring to head coach Cael Sanderson's Nittany Lion wrestling team!
Q: Welcome to Happy Valley! What were the main reasons you chose Penn State and this program?
I chose Penn State since it has one of the strongest engineering programs, and the nation's best wrestling team.
Q: What are you most excited about doing when you get on campus as an official member of the Penn State family?
I cannot wait to continue persuing excellence in the wrestling room and the classroom.
Q: What do you plan on majoring in and why?
I plan on majoring in Nuclear Engineering to develop fusion technologies for energy applications.
Q: How do you plan on approaching the transition to competing athletically at this level?
I'm throwing myself in headfirst. I'm trying to get as much time and experience in as soon as possible to minimize the acclimation period.
Q: If there is one thing you absolutely must bring with you from home to Penn State, what is it?
It is my fire. Nobody wanted anything more than I wanted to be the best, and I'm praying I've still got it with me.
Q: What is the one thing you are going to miss most about not being home?
I'm going to miss the community there. It filled me with purpose and I was always motivated.
