UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's basketball team is scheduled to play four non-conference home games to open its 2020-21 season, beginning with a Wednesday, Nov. 25 contest vs. Drexel in the Bryce Jordan Center to start the Thanksgiving weekend. The Nittany Lions welcome Drexel, VMI, VCU and Seton Hall prior to their trip to Virginia Tech for the 2020 ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
Tip times and TV broadcast information for all non-conference games will be forthcoming.
Penn State and Drexel are scheduled to meet in 2020-21 season opener for both teams. The Nittany Lions and Dragons have played only twice in this millennium with wins in back-to-back seasons in 2014-15 and 2015-16. Penn State is 6-0 overall over Drexel.
On Saturday, Nov. 28, PSU plays host to VMI. The Keydets are coached by Penn State alumnus Dan Earl '96, who was a four-year starter and is one of only three individuals to lead the Nittany Lions in assists four times. The two teams have met only five times, last in the 2015-16 season, with Penn State holding a 4-1 series advantage.
Penn State and VCU square off Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the first meeting between the two programs, while Seton Hall visits the BJC on Sunday, Dec. 6. The Nittany Lions are 5-1 against the Pirates, including their last encounter, an 89-86 overtime win in the BJC in 2007.
The first night of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday, Dec. 8 features Penn State at Virginia Tech. The Hokies lead the series 6-3, but the Nittany Lions have won the last two games.
The 2020-21 Big Ten Conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
Under current Big Ten guidance, public tickets will not be sold for 2020-21 Penn State men's basketball home games.
