Brenden Franks is a returning freshman infielder on the Penn State baseball team. Learn more about who inspired him to pursue baseball and what he is like off the field.

Who were your baseball role models growing up? 

Miguel Cabrera & Justin Verlander (I grew up a big Detroit Tigers fan) 

If you could play any position different from your own, what would it be? 
Pitcher. I feel most involved in a game when on the mound, but elbow issues caused me to become strictly an infielder. 

What/Who inspired you to pursue baseball? 
My best friends. We all began working hard together toward the same dream in seventh grade, and since then we never looked back and became college baseball players at different schools. 

What is your go-to karaoke song? 
I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas

What TV show could you watch over and over again and never get sick of?
Schitts Creek 

Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life? 
Matthew McConaughey 

What is your favorite class you've taken at Penn State so far? 
Earth 150. Learning about scientific controversies such as the dinosaur KT extinction and evolution was fascinating 

What's your favorite thing about Penn State? 
Attending sporting events. There is no better atmosphere in college sports than Penn State home games.

What would you do if you won the lottery? 
Purchase a vacation home in tropical waters and spend my life as scuba diving guide, as well as a home in Oregon to live among the beautiful mountain streams. 

What does your ideal lazy day look like? 
Go fishing early in the morning, cook a massive breakfast, play frisbee golf, and play Wii Sports with my friends. 

What instantly puts you in a good mood? 
Hiking and exploring outside in the wild.

What music are you listening to right now? 
2000's throwback pop music.
