Robison Blasts Baseball Past Wagner in 11th

CARY, N.C. – With Penn State down one run in the bottom of the 11th, right fielder Curtis Robison (Dillsburg, Pa.) hit a no-doubter over the right field wall with two runners on, giving the Nittany Lions a 4-2 win over Wagner Sunday afternoon at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

Robison drove in all four of Penn State's (5-2) runs for the game, as he plated first baseman Parker Hendershot (Barton, N.Y) in the bottom of the second inning on a groundout after Hendershot led off the frame with a triple.

Wagner (2-4) tied the game in the top of the fourth inning, and then neither team scored until the 11th. The Seahawks took their first lead of the game in the top of the 11th after an error with the bases loaded allowed a go-ahead run to score. RHP Jared Freilich (1-0) (Worcester, Mass.) battled back with a strikeout though to prevent further damage.

In the bottom half with one out, left fielder Ryan Ford (Freehold, N.J.) and Hendershot hit back-to-back singles to set the table for Robison, and he delivered in a full count with his fourth career home run.

Both teams had strong pitching performances. RHP Conor Larkin (Royersford, Pa.) started for the Nittany Lions and struck out seven in five innings, allowing just a run on five hits with one walk. RHP Mason Mellott (State College, Pa.) worked two scoreless innings, striking out two and allowing just one hit, while LHP Hutch Gagnon (Downingtown, Pa.) worked three innings and struck out three with just two hits allowed.

RHP McCae Allen started for Wagner and struck out eight in 5.1 innings, and allowed just the first run on two hits and two walks. RHP Kevin Wiseman led a trio of Seahawk relievers, striking out five in just 2.1 innings.
