UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 27 Penn State Women's Gymnastics team fell 194.875-193.875 against No. 28 Maryland on Sunday night in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions earned a 48.950 on vault, their highest score in a season opener since 2013.

Sophomore Cassidy Rushlow won her second career all-around title, while junior Melissa Astarita collected her fourth career floor title. Senior Erynne Allen registered a career high on floor. Freshman Natalie Cross earned PSU's highest score on vault and beam, while Alissa Bonsall and Rushlow tied for PSU's top tally on bars. Nine of Penn State's 24 lineup spots were performed by freshmen.

There were a lot of great performances to be proud of tonight, but we also have some work to do this week to be ready for Nebraska on Saturday. I'm excited to get back at it."
