Trio From Women's Golf Earn B1G Preseason Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Penn State women's golf team had three members of its 2020-21 roster receive 2021 Big Ten Women's Golf Preseason Honors earlier Thursday afternoon. Senior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) and junior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) were each named a preseason honoree for the second time in their careers while sophomore Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) was honored for the first time.

The conference honored a total of 41 players from the 14 member schools when they released the list early Thursday afternoon.

Delavallade led the Nittany Lions last year with a 73.29 scoring average to go along with three top-10 finishes during her first season. Willis had Penn State's lone top-5 finish last season during the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational where she finished tied for second with a 3-under, 213, score. Willis finished her sophomore campaign second on the team with a 73.57 scoring average.

McLean opted to take the extra year of eligibility given by the NCAA to spring sport student-athletes following the COVID-19 cancellation of the championship seasons and returns to Penn State for a fifth-year after ranking third on the team with a 75.11 scoring average in 2019-20.

Penn State opens its 2020-21 schedule at the UCF Challenge next Sunday-Tuesday.
