Bothun and Zanon Back in the CHA Award Column

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's hockey freshmen Josie Bothun and Kiara Zanon were selected as CHA weekly award winners for their individual play this past weekend at Lindenwood.

Bothun brought in her second CHA Goaltender of the Week honor and Zanon won CHA Rookie of the Week for the second time

After winning Rookie of the Week last week, Bothun had another solid performance in goal to lead Penn State to a 1-0-1 showing on the road. She made 40 total saves in both games, including two big stops on Lindenwood breakaways last Saturday to preserve the 2-2 tie.

The Wyoming, Minn. native ranks second in the CHA in both goals-against average (1.56) and save percentage (.944) while leading all conference goalies with a 9-1-2 record.

Zanon had three more points (1G, 2A) to bring her CHA-leading point total to 16 for the season. Zanon had her sixth multi-point game in Friday's 6-2 win with a goal and an assist before adding another helper in Saturday's tie.

Zanon leads all rookies in the country with 1.33 points per game, a mark that is also tied for sixth among all skaters.

Bothun, Zanon and the rest of the Nittany Lions play host to Robert Morris this weekend, Feb. 5-6, in a matchup of the conference's top two teams in the standings.
