Mock Earns National and Big Ten Weekly Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Junior Nick Mock picked up two weekly awards after completing the nation's best pommel horse routine of the season at Ohio State on Sunday. He was named the Co-Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on Monday and then added CGA National Specialist of the Week recognition on Tuesday.

Mock scored 14.8 with his pommel horse routine against the Buckeyes, which easily ranks as the best in the nation this season. Ian Shirkey (Illinois) ranks second with a score of 14.55. It's also Mock's personal-best score on pommel horse, besting his previous high of 14.45.

Penn State is 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten. The Lions go on the road to compete against Iowa on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Hawkeyes are 2-0 overall and in the conference with wins over Minnesota and Illinois.
