Women's Golf Moves Up Leaderboard at Gators Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Penn State shaved 17 strokes off its first-round score finishing the second round with at 10-over, 290, leaping one spot to 13th at the Florida Gators Invitational heading into Tuesday morning's final round.

Ole Miss used the only under-par round of the day to vault up six spots and into the lead with a score of 279 (1-under). The Rebels are currently one shot clear of both UCF and Maryland who sit tied for second at 13-over for the championship. Miami (17-over), Florida (18-over) and Alabama (18-over) round out the top five.

The Nittany Lions were more consistent as a group on Monday morning as junior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) and sophomore Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) paced the squad with identical rounds of 71 (1-over). Willis began her day on the par-3, 15th hole and was 3-under through her opening eight holes before giving a few shots back on her way home. Willis led the team with three birdies in the round and is currently tied for 22nd at 6-over for the tournament. Delavallade moved up 19 spots and into a tie for 48th after shaving eight strokes off her score between rounds.

Senior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) slid up a few spots into a tie for 41st after another consistent round of 3-over, 73, while freshman Victoria Tip-Aucha (Vienna, Va.) bounced back from a rough opening round carding 5-over, 75, to round out the team scoring.

The final round gets underway tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
