Jaroh Sweeps Big Ten Men's Gymnastics Weekly Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State's Michael Jaroh swept the Big Ten men's gymnastics awards this week, earning Gymnast of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Monday. The awards came one day after he helped lead the Lions to a win over Nebraska at Rec Hall.

Jaroh earned at least a share of first place in three individual events and added a runner-up finish in another to help Penn State improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten. His best performance of the day came on high bar, which he won with a score of 14.0. That currently ranks as the nation's second-best score on high bar this season.

Jaroh shared first-place honors in two other events, doing so with a score of 14.55 on vault and 14.1 on pommel horse. His runner-up showing came on rings with a score of 13.75.

This is the first Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award for the Lions this season. It is the second-straight week that a Penn State gymnast won Freshman of the Week recognition. Matt Cormier was the league's top rookie last week after a win over Illinois.

Penn State puts its unbeaten record on the line when it travels to compete against Ohio State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
