O'Keefe Named to Tewaaraton Watch List

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State's Mac O'Keefe was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List on Thursday. The list include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlights the early contenders for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award, which is in its 20th anniversary.

With 197 career goals, O'Keefe is just three away from the 200-goal milestone. He currently ranks fifth in NCAA history in career goals. He needs three to move into third on the list and needs 16 to break the all-time record of 212 set by Duke's Justin Guterding (2015-18). Additionally, O'Keefe has totaled 42 assists, 85 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers.

An all-around player, O'Keefe has five goals this season and has added five ground balls and three caused turnovers. He is coming off a three-goal performance in a 15-13 win over then-No. 12 Ohio State.

O'Keefe has made the Tewaaraton Watch List in three consecutive seasons. He is a two-time USILA All-American and a two-time All-Big Ten honoree.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

Players not named to this initial list will have opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch list additions will be announced on April 2, before the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees on April 23. Nominees can be players from the watch lists or not from the watch lists, effectively allowing for a second round of additions.

Five finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipient will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.
