Bard Records Under-par Round on First Day of General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Penn State men's golf team played in its first competition in nearly a month and posted a 298 (10-over) in the first round of the General Hackler Championship at the Dunes & Beach Club Sunday. The Nittany Lions are in 15th place.

Graduate students Alec Bard (New Hartford, New York) and Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, New Jersey) had the Nittany Lions' best scores of the first round. Bard finished his first round at a 1-under 71 to tie for 23rd. Davis made two birdies on his final two holes for a first-round 72 (even) score to tie for 34th.

Senior Lou Olsakovsky (Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania) had a team-best four birdies in the first round and shot even par on his final nine holes for a 2-over 74. He's currently in a tie for 57th. Sophomore Patrick Sheehan (Doylestown, Pennsylvania) sits at 9-over 81 for a tie for 88th and senior Lukas Clark (Holland, Pennsylvania) has an 11-over 83 for 90th.

Louisville registered 22 birdies and holds a two-stroke lead over North Carolina with a 13-under 275. Josh Gillkison of Kent State, Nick Infanti of North Florida and Louisville's John Murphy returned to the clubhouse with 66 scores (6-under) to tie for first place after the first round.
