UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The 2021 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships begin this evening in Greensboro, North Carolina with Penn State swimming's Marie Schobel swimming on Friday and Saturday at the meet in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

Every day, prelims will be held at 10 a.m. and finals will be at 6 p.m.

The meet will be streamed on ESPN3 every day and ESPNU will have a two-hour highlight show on Tuesday, April 6.

The junior backstroker comes into the meet seeded at 20th with her personal best time of 52.34 that she swam for in the 400 medley relay at this year's Big Ten Championships.

Schobel has now placed in the top 10 of the 100 backstroke two years in a row at Big Tens, placing 9th in 2020 (52.98) and 6th in 2021 (53.11).

Since Schobel also has an NCAA B-Cut in the 200 back, she will be competing in that race as well. At Big Tens she placed 14th with a time of 1:56.90 after achieving her personal best at last year's championships when she placed ninth (1:55.06).

Schobel also qualified for the 2020 NCAA Championships in the 100 backstroke but was not able to attend since the championships were cancelled due to COVID-19.
