Wildman Chosen EIVA Defensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State outside hitter Brett Wildman was chosen the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week for his individual performance last week against Sacred Heart, his first weekly conference award this season and the third of his career.

Wildman was key in Penn State's two 3-0 sweeps of the Pioneers March 26-27, as he led the team in kills while setting a personal best in blocks.

The Virginia Beach native led the Nittany Lions with 24 kills for the weekend, including tying his season with 17 in Friday's win, and followed up Saturday with a single-match career best with 6 blocks in Saturday's victory.

Wildman's great all-around performance can be highlighted further with a perfect 23-23 mark in serve receive, 10 digs, and a .441 hitting percentage over both matches.

The 2020 Co-EIVA Player of the Year, Wildman has been incredibly consistent since late January with double digit points in every match he's played since Jan. 30 against Ohio State. He is also averaging 3.63 kills per set since Feb. 6.

Wildman is the eighth Nittany Lion to pick up an EIVA weekly award this season.
